Founded in 1953, over 1,100 men have called themselves UNC DUs. Many of our alumni stay in close contact with the chapter and provide consistent, ongoing financial support. A small group of local alumni are actively involved with the brotherhood, but serve only in an advisory capacity. The brothers set their budget, collect dues and fees, and pay their bills. They establish and enforce their rules, recruit new members, and plan their functions; they basically run their own small business. History has shown, however, that the best fraternities on campus; those which consistently make good grades, which are actively involved in campus activities, and which do not have some of the stereotypical “frat problems,” are those which have active, interested alumni standing in the wings to provide advice and counsel when necessary. Our group thoroughly enjoys working with these young men and we are pleased with the willingness and eagerness with which they accept our advice.
The North Carolina Delta Upsilon Foundation is a 501C7 corporation which owns the house at 407 E. Rosemary Street. Working as a committee of NCDUF, the Alumni Committee, which has 7 members, works closely with the brothers. We try to have at least 2 Committee members present at each chapter meeting and each executive council meeting.
