All fraternities depend heavily upon their alumni for financial support. Being one of the youngest fraternities on campus, DU has a smaller number of alumni than many houses and we have not had 5 and 6 generations from the same family walk through our doors. Those fraternities that do have that kind of history are fortunate to have major financial support come to them through trusts, wills, contribution of property, etc. That makes even more gratifying the response we had from our alumni to our capital campaign, during which we raised $670,000 from 238 men. The biggest problem we faced during the campaign was that we simply were unable to contact approximately 40% of our alumni due to poor records. We have since tracked down many of those men and we hope that they are willing to join their brothers in aiding the chapter.
We currently have a mortgage of approximately $345,000, which is being paid by the brothers’ dues. If you would like to help us work that down, you can make a cash donation to the Foundation or pledge to make a series of annual or semi-annual gifts. Please know that such gifts are not tax exempt. You may also make gifts of appreciated stock or other assets.
The house will constantly be in need of new and additional fixtures and furnishings. At the present time, we need a trophy case, a flat screen TV, and a commercial grade refrigerator. If you would like to make a gift of such an item, it would be greatly appreciated.
Finally, as you may know, we have recently established The Michael S Gray Memorial Fund. Gifts to this endowed fund are tax deductible. Please click on the Gray tab for more information.
If you would like to make a gift to DU, please contact Fred Atkins or Mark Prakke.
