Founder's Day
On November 19, 2005, over 250 alumni gathered at the new DU house to celebrate its unveiling, ushering in a new era for Delta Upsilon at UNC.

DUs quickly learn why they call their friends “brother.”  They live together, go to classes together, study together, eat together, and party together.  They go home with each other on weekends and holidays.  They look out for each other and depend on one another.  They truly do become as close as family

As with any worthwhile endeavor, membership in DU entails a certain commitment of time.  Each brother is expected to do his part in helping to run the fraternity.  In addition to elected positions on the Executive Council, there will be many opportunities to chair committees, plan functions, and run events.  Further, brothers are encouraged and expected to not only take part in campus activities, but to seek leadership roles in them.

Delta Upsilon is a social fraternity and there are many opportunities to socialize.  In addition to the above mentioned activities, there are frequent weekend parties, road trips, and formals.  We know how to have a good time and can party with the best of them; yet we understand that this carries a certain amount of responsibility and we seek to avoid excessive and irresponsible behavior.  Within two hundred yards of the house are four of the best sororities on campus; DUs socialize with some of the finest women on campus and have several sorority mixers throughout the year.

While we are a social fraternity, we understand that we are fortunate to be at one of the best universities in the country.  We are here to get a great education and prepare ourselves for an exciting and fruitful life.  DUs seek a wide range of majors and take pride in achieving excellent grades.  Our goal is to have the best gpa of all fraternities on campus every semester.

Life as a DU centers around the fraternity house at 407 E. Rosemary Street.  We serve five catered dinners a week at the house.  We have a basketball court in the back, a horseshoe pit in the side yard, a ping-pong table in the basement, and a large screen TV.  The house has a comfortable chapter room and a large study hall/party room.  While the house sleeps just eleven men, all members spend most of their free time and study time at 407.  Built in 2005, the house is of solid, state-of-the-art construction.  It is comfortable and extremely safe.  The best part of our house is its location.  We are on the other side of campus from the “fraternity courts” and thus avoid the noise, chaos, and distraction of that area.  Yet we are within easy walking distance of all class buildings and of downtown Chapel Hill.

Life as a DU is one of constantly seeking “balance” between work, play, friendships, and community.  Life as a DU can be hectic, but it is certainly rewarding and DUs definitely graduate with a well rounded, complete education.
