What is E.A.S.E. ?

Easing Abroad Students’ Entry is a student organization at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that has been founded for the purpose of helping students that have chosen UNC as their study abroad school to assimilate with the university as well as the surrounding community.

Students from other countries often do not know what to expect as they prepare for their journeys. What we as members of this organization intend to do is to try and help EASE the transition of these students. Each incoming students is matched to a mentor that is a student at the university. These mentors are meant to be among the first students to make contact with the exchange students, giving them a warm, hearty, welcome well before they come to the United States. Throughout the student’s time here the will be able to go to events with their mentor but also with other mentor and exchange students.

This group will consist of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, an Intramural Chair, Bulletin Editors, Historian, Website Editor, and Event Organizer(s). The duties of each will be the following:

President: Make sure that club runs smoothly and with the help of the V.P. make the list of mentors and mentees. They also match up the mentors with mentees. They attend the events that are planned for the exchange students by the Study Abroad. They also meet with the faculty advisor to plan the logistics for the club and create a solid relationship with the advisor. Be a mentor to all exchange students.

Vice President: Takes on any activity described in the role of the President that they need help with and delegate to them. Handle the management of listservs and keeping them up to date.

Make sure photos are appropriate and relevant. Each semester they create a physical photo album to allow for a recollection of the events for the year.
