Conferences, Workshops, and Seminars
Each semester, the EUCE sites sponsor a wide variety of conferences, workshops, and seminars for the larger community. These events are targeted to various groups, from local residents and the on-campus population, to more focused stakeholders, such as business and/or media groups wanting to apprise themselves of the latest in EU industry news, tax policy, and public relations issues. *Some recent, past conferences are also listed below to provide access to relevant papers and contact information for researchers.

In the context of debates about globalization and education, and especially the construction of new knowledge spaces in a globalizing context, we are hosting a two day symposium on one of the more fascinating and complex knowledge spaces that is emerging - the European Higher Education Area. The European Higher Education Area is the outcome of recent attempts at a number of levels to "create a European space for higher education in order to enhance the employability and mobility of citizens and to increase the international competitiveness of European higher education" (Bologna Declaration, 1999).

This international workshop and conference, focusing on the European clothing industry, brings together researchers studying trade liberalization and production networks with policy makers and other stakeholders from government, NGOs, and industry, to explore the changing patterns of production and trade in Central and Eastern Europe, and the roles played by national and EU institutions and markets in these changes as the industry adjusts to EU accession and the completion of the integration of clothing into the WTO on January 1, 2005. |

From working groups to conferences, seminars, and field-level projects, the EUCE advances peoples' understanding of the modern-day European Union and its member states.
