Honorary Degrees and Special Awards Committee
The Honorary Degrees and Special Awards Committee of the Faculty considers nominations from the faculty for four major awards each year:
- Honorary Degrees awarded at Commencement each May
- Distinguished Alumnus and Alumna Awards, presented each University Day (October 12)
- Thomas Jefferson Award, presented at Faculty Council each April
- O. Max Gardner Award

- Call for nominations, 2010 Distinguished Alumna/us Awards (deadline is October 14, 2009)
- December 9, 2009: Deadline for 2010 O. Max Gardner nominations
- January 20, 2010: Deadline for 2011 Honorary Degree nominations
- March 26, 2010: Deadline for 2010 Thomas Jefferson Award nominations
