Roster of Recipients of the Thomas Jefferson Award
The Thomas Jefferson Award was established in 1961 by the Robert Earll McConnell Foundation. It is pressented annually to "that member of the academic community who through personal influence and performance of duty in teaching, writing, and scholarship has best exemplified the ideals and objectives of Thomas Jefferson."
Any active member of the faculty is eligible, including those who are participating in the phased-retirement program. Nominations, together with supporting statements, should be submitted to the Secretary of the Faculty in late February. The award is presented in April at the Faculty Council meeting.
The Thomas Jefferson Award is presented by the Chancellor on recommendation of the faculty’s Committee on Honorary Degrees and Special Awards. Nominations may be submitted by any member of the faculty.
