Description
Vehicle laws require a Commercial Drivers License for every employee who operates a motor vehicle designed or used to transport passengers or property if one of the following conditions exists:
- The vehicle has a gross weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more.
- The vehicle is designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver.
- The vehicle is transporting hazardous materials and is required to be placarded in accordance with the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act (49CFR Part 172, Subpart F).
Reimbursement of Cost
Current employees who are required to initially obtain and to maintain a CDL to operate specified motor vehicles are entitled to reimbursement for the cost associated with such licensing.
The cost of the license is to be charged to the account to which the salary of the employee is charged.
