Commercial Operations Prohibited
The Airport is open to the public, but is maintained and operated primarily for University purposes. No commercial operation of any kind or type may be conducted at the Airport.
Obligation
The use of the Airport or any of its facilities in any manner creates an obligation on the part of the user thereof to obey all the policies provided and adopted by the University.
Types of Users
The University recognizes the following bona fide users of its Airport:
- AHEC Users-defined as aircraft belonging to the AHEC Medical Air Operations, based at the Airport.
- Base Users-defined as persons who rent a hangar or tie-down at the Airport for more than three consecutive months.
- Transient Users-defined as persons who leave their aircraft at the Airport for more than one month but not more than three months.
- Visiting Users-defined as persons who leave their aircraft at the Airport for at least one night, but not more than one month.
- Brief Users-defined as aircraft that land at the Airport but do not remain overnight.
Responsibility
The University assumes no responsibility for the protection of, or damages to, any aircraft, equipment, or items of value placed or located at the Airport.
Privilege of Use
The privilege of using the Airport and its facilities shall be conditioned on the assumption of full responsibility and risk by the user thereof, and he or she shall release and hold harmless and indemnify the University, its officers and employees from any liability of loss resulting from such use, as well as from claims of third persons using the Airport.
Insurance
The privilege of locating based aircraft at the Airport shall be upon the further condition that any tenant desiring to do so shall furnish a policy of indemnity against personal injury and property damage as follows: minimum combined single liability coverage of $1,000,000 with an unrestricted passenger limit. Proof of this coverage for each aircraft must be submitted to the airport manager with the application for a permit to operate from the Airport, and upon renewal thereof. The proof shall be a formal certificate from the insurer. Notice must be provided in writing to the manager ten days in advance of the cancellation of the above described insurance coverage.
Violators
Any person violating any of the Airport policies may be punished by law or ordinance or, at the discretion of the University, may be deprived of the use of the Airport facilities for such period of time as may be necessary and effective.
Restrictions
The Airport is restricted to small aircraft only. Except in emergency situations, the following types of aircraft may not use the Airport: jet-powered (i.e., without propellers or rotors); aircraft that create more than 100 decibels measured sound level at 100 feet altitude; aircraft weighing over 12,500 pounds maximum certified takeoff weight; gliders without engines; balloons; and miniature aircraft.
Aircraft operations related to parachuting, stunt flying, aerobatics, and banner-towing are prohibited.
