Last Modified Date: 08/22/2003

Procedure Description

The Office of State Personnel has adopted Nursing Shift Pay, which is special pay for employees in certain Nursing classifications (see PAY Appendix 23, page 1). Nursing Shift Pay replaced the State's Shift Premium Pay for eligible employees effective January 16, 1989.

Nursing Shift Pay is included in "gross pay" for required statutory deductions such as Federal and State income tax withholding, Social Security, and State retirement.

Procedure Steps

The employee's home department must complete the Form PR-15, Request for Nursing Shift Pay (see PAY Appendix 23, page 2) for each pay period in which an eligible employee is scheduled and works the Nursing Shift schedule. Instructions for completing the form PR-15 are included in PAY Appendix 23, page 3. The form should be turned in to Payroll Services on the same schedule as followed in the submission of the form PR-7, Employee Time Record (see PAY Procedure 1).
