PHOTOCOPYING

Printing Services (PRT)

PROCEDURE 2

Effective Date: 07/01/1992

Last Modified Date: 01/03/2005

Services Offered

The Copy Centers use high speed photoduplicating equipment that produces clear, black-ink copies on 8 1/2" x 11" or 8 1/2" x 14", 20-pound bond, white or colored paper at a speed of 150 copies per minute. Stapling, standard three-hole punching, collating, and other services are available at each Copy Center. Printing on both sides is available. The original should be clearly typed or printed on standard white bond paper. Blue ink and light pencil will not reproduce well.

Cost of Copy Centers vs. Departmental Copiers

The cost for the first 1-3 copies is $0.10 per page. Copies 4-200 are $0.03 per page. As a rule of thumb, it is cheaper to make a few copies on a department copier. For large quantities, or work requiring a great deal of collating and stapling, the cost of labor, material, and photocopier machines often means that the use of a Copy Center is more efficient.

Production Time

Small jobs of up to 50 copies each of 10 originals are given top priority and can be run while you wait, usually within 30 minutes. Large job runs can usually be completed in two days, as the work schedule permits. (Copy Center Operators automatically shift jobs to other Centers if doing so will produce significant time savings.)
