The Carolina Center for Public Service invites faculty and staff from your unit to apply for the third annual Faculty and Staff Grants for Public Service from a pool of $60,000. Previous winners have received from $400 to $5000.
The grants will support current or newly created public service projects that use the expertise of UNC faculty, staff, or students in partnership with community agencies to improve the lives of North Carolinians. Winning projects will develop lasting partnerships between the University and community organizations beyond the campus.
Applications are due Wednesday, April 19, 2000. The winners will be recognized at the Public Service Awards Banquet on Friday, May 5. Funds must be spent between July 1, 2000, and June 30, 2001.
Application Process
A completed application must be submitted by April 19, 2000, to the Carolina Center for Public Service in Suite 201 of the Bank of America Center, 137 East Franklin Street, CB# 3142.
Applications should be a maximum of five pages (excluding budget, letters of support, and the signed award agreement) and must include the following information:
A committee of students, faculty, staff, and community members will review the proposals and make the awards. They will consider the extent to which the proposed activity involves UNC resources in a partnership with a community agency to meet community needs. Previous grant recipients are listed on the Center's web site at www.unc.edu/cps.
