The purpose of this letter is to announce a significant change regarding the billing of Federal Express shipping charges by the Materials Management and Distribution Division for University Departments.

Currently, some Departments are using the University's main Federal Express account number (02760351-3) as the bill to account number for their Federal Express shipments. The use of the main university account number complicates and delays invoice payment for shipping services.

To streamline the Federal Express shipping and invoice payment process, each department will be required to establish their own Federal Express account number by October 1, 1998. After October 1, 1998, the main university account number (02760351-3) will no longer qualify for shipping discounts or pick up service.

To request the establishment of a Federal Express account number, please complete the attached form. Indicate on the form if you want the billing for your FedEx account to be Centralized through MMD or if you would prefer direct billing. If you choose centralized billing, a default University Account Number is required. If your department already has a Federal Express account number, indicate dig on the attached form so that our records can be updated. The completed form should be sent to Debbie Niemeier at (804) 747-6891.
