| RE: | PPB Counts of Persons Served by Labs and Clinics |
For the next budget cycle the University is being included in the State's new Performance Planning and Budgeting System (PPB), and we must report on a number of performance measures to UNC General Administration. One of those measures for which we have no centralized data collection process is:
The annual number of citizens served by labs and clinics.
The count we need is for last year, July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998.
Unfortunately I have no further directions on what is meant by this measure,
but let me offer a few comments. First, do not worry about the term "citizen;"
include all persons served. Second, examples of service may be patients
seen at University (not hospital) medical or dental clinics, persons '
getting lab tests done, etc. Third, we need some counts but do not re-invent
the wheel to get them. We will need this done annually
for the
foreseeable future, so try to provide something that is readily available
(and that is likely to increase over time).
Please complete the attached sheet as best you can and return to me by August 10. If you have no lab or clinic activity in your unit, you may ignore this request.
Thanks for your help with this, and I do apologize for the extra burden!
