RE: Senate Bill 255 - Telephone Menus
 

Please be aware that State law (Senate Bill 255) requires all State agencies, including the University, to hold the number of menus on automated phone systems to a maximum of two during normal business hours before a caller reaches an attendant or operator. Using the definition from the statute, "the term 'menu' refers to the first point in the call at which the caller is asked to choose from two or more options, regardless of whether that choice is referred to as a menu, router, or other term within the telephone industry itself."

Senate Bill 255 also requires that the University/ department telephone number be prominently posted on agency letterhead purchased or produced on or after September 1, 1999.
