Suggestions for including faculty:

Handouts:

Information Exchange Program (Noblitt)

See FITAC annual report for examples of "show and tell" sessions from last year. Looking for volunteers for presentations this year. Essence of these presentations is what you're doing and how it impacts student learning.

Jim Noblitt provided an example of an information exchange presentation by pointing out how his web site provides an added relational dimension to the standard linear syllabus. Student evaluations for the course have improved significantly since technology components were added.

Issues raised during Noblitt presentation:

  • How do these strategies work in larger classroom environments?
  • Writing for peers is big driver for many students.
  • What about monitoring discussions where inappropriate comments are likely to come up?

Suggestions for Agenda Items

  • How can we use technology to keep students hooked into the University after they leave? For example, life-long access to library resources?
  • Digital library services update
  • Revisiting strategies for sharing examples of effective IT use
  • Revisiting faculty development initiatives
