Issues

• Need content ideas (log into myunc.edu!)
• Teaching Tab under faculty view a collaborative effort to make teaching resources more readily available to faculty.
• Looking for faculty representatives for Portal Advisory Committee.
• Does redesign of UNC Home Page need to accommodate portal more prominently?
• What does calendaring mean in the context of the portal?
• Serendipitous discovery/browsing, via a student view for example, more difficult through portal (guest IDs will be implemented to resolve this issue).
• Would top-level University support make content owners more likely to share content?
• Grade submission and A/V checkout through the library would be big draws for faculty.

FITAC White Paper

At the last meeting, FITAC discussed producing a white paper for the incoming CIO. Discussion on white paper content.

Goals are to make sure University leadership is aware of key issues. Need to pass information up and down the hierarchy.

White paper should include the following:

• Letter outlining key issues
• Link to examples of effective use (and why)
• Recommendations
