My research is currently focused on three topics: the nature of figurative language, intentionality and the folk concept of intentional action, and contextualism (and related positions) within epistemology and linguistics generally. I’m a methodological pluralist who thinks discussions of philosophical topics can be fruitfully informed by empirical research within psychology, linguistics and the cognitive sciences. I currently hold the ACLS/Mellon Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
