Photography

This is a collection of a few photo alterations Patrick has created using his own photos or those provided by others.

I combined a picture of a dog in my face with a painting hand so it looks like the hand is painting the dog. This was a picture of a road bike I was trying to sell. I took the original picture of the bike against an old white sheet and removed all of the surroundings from the image to better showcase the bike.Final detailed bike picture cleaned up.This is the original picture used in the next slide to create an advertising piece. I didn't have ideal conditions (such as a nice studio with WHITE background) but I can manage in Photoshop.Final image of the previous bike shot. The background was removed and graphics added below. I used this to sell the bike online. The original glass image did not have good contrast so the background was made white to better show the piece. This work was for an online gift store. The image is a merging of two pictures of the same kid swimming laps in a pool.I found an old Ducati advertisement and thought it would be cool to blend it with one of their newer model bikes. The pictures and graphics are not mine. The blue face on the tank of this bike was Photoshopped in and is not actually a part of the bike. Here I was trying to design vinyl graphics for this motorcycle.I took a normal picture of someone riding this bike and colorized it.Poster collage from pictures taken at Road Atlanta speedway in Georgia in 2005.The image at the top was combined with an image of the number '46' rider on the left to give the illusion that three riders were battling it out for position. The bottom image is a combination of the top picture and another picture of the same riders at different times. This gives the illusion that the two are racing their twins. This was a picture that was cropped down to show the detail of mud cracking. The colors were converted to mono-tone.This is a picture I took in New Orleans. The color was pulled from it and I overlaid an image of clouds onto the buildings and darkened the scene since this photo was taken in the middle of day. This is actually a blend of two vertically shot photos I took at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando. The castle and the reflection in the water were two separate images originally. This was my first advertising piece I ever released to the public. It was printed as a postcard and released on the locals. I had fun with it but the layout is a bit cluttered. Oh, notice the eyes on the dog. I took the eyes from a photo of someone else (human). I staged the shots of myself holding all of these 'imaginary' pictures for this piece.Picture(s) from the Campfire Lodgings campground in Asheville, NC. I took about 6 individual pictures and blended them together to create this view.2 pictures blended together to create this Corvette collage. This is the original picture of the Corvette used in the next image. Someone asked me to do something with this picture (I did not shoot this picture) so the next picture is the end result. This is the final revised image from the previous picture. As you can see I removed the other surrounding cars and placed the car in a surreal environment.2002 - This was one of the first pictures I took with my first digital camera (which is now very much out of date). This is just a simple image of drying mud that I was intrigued with. The only modification I really made to the original was to convert it to mono-tone.1998 - This was just a fun advertising collage I created using some of the photos that were brought to me at my shop.1998 - Advertising collage I created to show off the color printers we had at our shop.1998 - Collage I created to advertise our photo restoration services. I believe these were all photos I restored.1998 - One of the first poster collages I created using my own photography. These pictures were taken at Gray Rocks Canada. The original 35mm picture was an entire headshot framed within a window. I cropped this picture down significantly, removed the color except in the eyes and colorized the lips with a subtle shade to compliment the soft color palette.Altered picture of an old photo. I cropped this photo and added the text graphics as a because the shot reminded me of some A&F advertisment. The original 35mm photo of this picture is sitting in some desk drawer or portfolio somewhere, but almost all of the original color was removed and the dress color on the little girl was added to bring focus to her cute pose.2001 - This is the original photo taken of a family at the beach. The next photo is the final image I ended up with after alterations.2001 - Altered photo with most of the color taken out except for the little girl and the hat.Original baby picture brought to me in 1998. There was water damage, but luckily it mostly on the background of the photo.1998 - Photo restoration of baby. He was still crying even after I restored him.Original picture taken using a standard 35mm film camera.2002 - Altered version of previous photo. I really liked the way this image turned out. I cropped this photo to bring more emphasis to the flowers and make it look like the hand and head are just floating into the frame. The colors were blurred and muted to create the contrast.Original photo brought to me to restore.Restored version of previous photo.

Behind the scenes: This page template uses the Lightbox2 image viewer created by Lokesh Dhakar (the cool part when you click on an image). It has been repurposed to dynamically pull images from my Google Picasa web albums using the Picasa API feeds. One of these days I will zip up the files so others out there can enjoy as well.
