Country Manor Potpourri

4 Tablespoons dried Lavender
2 Tablespoons dried Rosemary
1 oz dried Lemon peel
1 oz dried Juniper berries, crushed
1 oz dried Allspice berries, crushed
1/2 oz Orris root powder

Mix all ingredient together and place in zip-lock bag. Allow to stand for several days before using.



Kitchen Potpourri

1 oz Costmary
1 oz Tansy
1 oz Lavender
1 oz Peppermint
1/2 oz Lemon-scented geranium leaves
1/2 oz Mint-scneted geranium leaves
1/2 oz Bay leaves
1/2 oz Rosemary
1 oz Orris root powder
1/2 oz Lovage root, crushed
3 drops Rosemary essential oil
2 drops Lemon essential oil
2 drops Patchouli essential oil

Mix all ingredients together and place in zip-lock bag. Allow to stand for several days before using.



Lavender Simmering Potpourri

2 oz Lavender
1 oz Rose petals
1 oz Cloves, bruised
1 oz Cinnamon sticks, crushed
1 oz Orris root powder
1 oz Gum Benzoin powder
2 drops Rose essential oil
2 drops Lavender essential oil
2 drops Clove essentail oil
2 drops Tincture of Benzoin

Mix all ingredients together well. Allow to "cure" in a zip-lock bag for two weeks before using. This mixture can also be sewn into sachets.



Lemon Verbena and Lavender Potpourri

2 oz Lemon Verbena
3 oz Lavender flowers
1 oz Peppermint
1 oz Marjoram
1/2 whole Nutmeg, grated
1 Tablespoon Blade mace, crushed
1 oz Orris root powder
1 drop Lemon essential oil
1 drop Orange Blossom essential oil
1 drop Peppermint essential oil

Mix all ingredients together and place in zip-lock bag. Allow to stand for several days before using.



Rose and Herb Potpourri

4 oz Rose petals
2 oz Lavender flowers
1 oz Marjoram
1 oz Thyme
1 oz Rosemary
2 Tablespoons Orange peel, crushed
2 teaspoons Cloves, crushed
1 teaspoon Allspice berries, crushed
1 oz Orris root powder
2 drops Orange essential oil
1 drops Clove essential oil

Mix all ingredients together and place in zip-lock bag. Allow to stand for several days before using.



Rosemary and Lemon Balm Potpourri

2 oz dried Lemon balm, crumbled
1/2 oz dried Bay leaves, crumbled
1/2 oz dried Eucalyptus leaves, crumbled
1 oz Cloves, bruised
1 oz Orris root powder
1 oz Musk powder
2 drops Rosemary essential oil
2 drops Lemon balm essential oil
1 drop Clove essential oil

Mix all ingredients together well. Allow to "cure" in a zip-lock bag for two weeks before using. This mixture can also be sewn into sachets.



Spicy Potpourri

1/2 cup Lavender flowers
1 teaspoon Allspice berries
1 teaspoon Anise seed
1 teaspoon Cinnamon bark pieces, finely broken
1 Tablespoon Orange peel
1 Tablespoon Sandalwood chips
1 1" section vanilla bean, finely chopped

After mixing, use 1/4 cup in a quart of simmering water.


Spicy Simmering Potpourri

1 cup whole Allspice
1 cup Star Anise
1 cup dried Ginger Root, chopped
1 cup dried Sassafrass root, chopped
2 cups dried Orange Peel
2 cups dried Lemon Verbena leaves
20 drops Allspice essential oil

Mix all ingredients together well. Place a few tablespoons of mixture in simmering water to make house smell wonderful.



St. Clemant's Potpourri
(from an old nursery ryhyme)

Mix together:
3 cups of rose petals
1 cup of Chamomile flowers or Globe Amaranth, natural or dyed yellow
1/2 cup Lemongrass
1 cup Orange slices cut in half
1 cup Orange peel, cut in ribbon
1 cup Lemon balm leaves,
4 Tablespoons Lemon Thyme

Crush and add:
4 Tablespoons dried Orange Peel and 3 Tablespoons dried Lemon Peel
2 Tablespoons Mace
1 tablespoon Allspice berries

Mix in :
5 Tablespoons Orris Root powder
2 tablespoons Gum Tragacanth powder
4 drops Rose essential oil
4 drops each Orange and Lemon essential oil.



Yule Simmering Potpourri

Mix together equal amounts of:
Whole Allspice
Whole Cloves
Cinnamon Stick pieces
Large pieces of dried orange peel
Optional: A few drops of Essential Oils of bergamot, cinnamon or clove.

Add 1/4 cup of mixture to small pot of water. Bring to a boil, then lower heat so the fragrant steam fills the air. Substitute ingredients as you like to fit your personal tastes.
