WICCA 101:
Red Deer's & Elenya's
   website Dedication

Invocation of the Lord & Lady
I have been a stag of seven tines, running
I have been a flood across a wide plain, flowing
I have been a wind over a deep lake, whispering
I have been a tear from the brilliant sun, glistening
I have been a hawk in my nest above the cliff, watching
I have been a wonder among the lovliest flowers, blooming
I have been a god with smoke to fill the head, blazing
I have been a spear that roars for blood, flying
I have been a salmon in a clear pool, swimming
I have been a hill where poets walk, singing
I have been a boar upon the hills ruthless and red, roving
I have been a breaker from the winter sea, thundering
I have been a tide of the ocean, delivering to death and returning...
Who, but I, knows the secrets of the unhewn dolmen?

I am the womb of every holt,
I am the blaze on every hill,
I am the queen of every hive,
I am the shield for every head,
I am the tomb of every hope...
Who, but I, gives birth to all that was, is and shall be?

after The Song of Amergin, translated by Robert Graves

Howdy!

I'm Red Deer. My wife, Elenya, and I maintain this WebSite. Welcome to our virtual home.

Raised Methodist, and then Catholic, I have been a born again Witch for twenty years - but spent most of that time in the broom closet. When I "came out" to Elenya a few years ago, I was immensely grateful that she not only accepted and became interested in my faith, but embraced it. Elenya's support has been crucial to my path, and has made my public coming out here, in the "Southern Part of Heaven", possible. We now dedicate a significant portion of our energies to educating others about Witchcraft, Wicca and Paganism. Hence, this site was born...

We hope that you will take the time to peruse the many postings accessible through this site. As coordinators of Wicca 101 - a virtual class on Witchcraft, Wicca and Paganism held weekly on Prodigy - we have archived here transcripts of all the sessions from its inception in April of 1995 until its demise in January of 1998. You may also find transcripts of Full Moon Rituals held by an ecclectic group of friends during the past few years - first on the Prodigy bulletin boards and later on PaganPath. And more! Basic information, including an outline from the Goddess Spirituality course, many pages of Thealogy, information on the Witches' Sabbats, and an extensive recommended readings list are accessible with a click of your mouse. During 2000, I've begun posting writings from my personal Book of Shadows and will continue doing so, as time allows.

When studying the information found here (or anywhere else you may journey, for that matter) please recognize that there is NO dogma in Witchcraft, nor in Paganism in general. And, as the Pagan approach to religion is non-dogmatic, there is also absolutely no one out there who can tell you that any given belief or practice is the only way to proceed. The Craft, to me, is about learning to control my self - with the aid of my Lady and Lord - and hence not about submitting to the control of others. Therefore, class facilitators may or may not have been experts, and all facilitators presented their own views upon a subject. That which was taught can not be taken as the only true approach to a given subject. Likewise, my own writings are not fact. They represent my understanding of my Craft. Unlike the highly dogmatic monotheisms, neoPagan religions tend to be fluid, non-heirarchical (relatively, at least), and highly personal (both in terms of religious experience and its interpretation).

We sincerely hope y'all enjoy, and leave our site with something you've found worthwhile!

Blessings Bright & Dark
Red Deer & Elenya

ps... Our indices are relatively graphics intensive and may be slow loading; however, the information pages will come up much faster. We feel that the graphics are worth the wait, but - if you are on a particularly slow link - you may want to disable your browser's image autoload before proceeding.
