BIOLOGY 277L
VERTEBRATE FIELD ZOOLOGY LABORATORY

FALL SEMESTERS, 1:00-3:50 FRIDAY
WITH ONE WEEKEND FIELD TRIP

[For important information about registration -- click here!]

COURSE AIMS

This lab provides direct experience with a variety of vertebrates in the field. The aim is to learn about the study and conservation of living vertebrates in natural circumstances.

This lab also provides a chance to experience one of the world's great vertebrate spectacles, the migratory waterfowl of coastal North Carolina.

WEEKEND FIELD TRIP

This lab includes a weekend field trip -- in mid-November. Students must plan ahead to fit this trip into their schedules.

Transportation for this trip is provided by Biology Department vehicles.

The costs of rooms and most meals are shared by the participants (in recent years not more than $60 per person for the two-day weekend).

LIMITATIONS ON ENROLLMENT

Enrollment is limited to two sections of 15 students each, so everyone can see the animals.

These labs often fill quickly during registration.   If you have a special interest in this lab, please
send me a note before seniors register in March (briefly explain your interest in the lab).
