Sanchez is a recent recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts award. Among the many honors she has received are the Community Service Award from the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, the Lucretia Mott Award, the Outstanding Arts Award from the Pennsylvania Coalition of 100 Black Women, the Peace and Freedom Award from Women International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), the Pennsylvania Governor's Award for Excellence in the Humanities, a National Endowment for the Arts Award, and a Penn Fellowship in the Arts.

From Interstate 40 (from Raleigh and points east):
Take Exit 273-B (Hwy 54) towards Chapel Hill
Continue straight for 4 miles to the top of the hill

Take I-40 East towards Raleigh
Take Exit 273 and turn right at the end of the exit ramp

From Interstate 85 North (from Durham and points north):
Follow I-85 to intersection with Hwy 15-501 South
Follow 15-501 South towards Chapel Hill; the highway will divide
Remain on 15-501 South (Bypass) bearing left, away from Franklin Street
Turn right at Highway 54 Exit towards "UNC-Chapel Hill"
Continue to the top of the hill
Park at UNC Visitor Parking Lot on right just before traffic light*
