African American Economic Summit
Sponsored by

UNC-CH
The Research
Network on Racial and Ethnic Inequality (RNREI) at Duke University
· The purpose of this Summit is to explore the
economic status of African Americans and to develop a set of policy
recommendations that can be submitted to the federal and state governments.
· The Summit
will address the specific impact of the current US economic crisis on housing,
education, labor, wealth, health, and racial incarceration as these pertain to
African Americans and their communities. The Summit will generate far reaching policy
proposals to mitigate the effects of this worldwide recession at both national
and state levels. The Summit
also will introduce strategies to prevent the recurrence of a similar economic
downturn in the future.
