Accomodations
Special IAAR hotel rates are available at the Sheraton Chapel Hill. The rates are as follows: $129 per night, 7.00% NC sales tax rate per night, and a 5% occupancy rate per night. When you are making reservations, please mention the IAAR rate, so that you will receive the preferred group rate. HOTEL RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY OCTOBER 8, 2007 TO RECEIVE THE IAAR GROUP RATE. Directions
From Raleigh to the Johnston Center:
Take I-40 West. Take 15-501 towards Chapel Hill.
After Sage Road, get into the right lane.
When the road divides (after Erwin Rd), bear right onto Franklin Street.
Continue on Franklin Street for 2.5 miles.
After Raleigh Street, begin to look left for the Morehead Planetarium (250 E Franklin St. Chapel Hill, NC 27514).
The Johnston Center (in Graham Memorial) is on the left as you pass the Morehead Planetarium/Visitor's Lot.
From I-85 to the Johnston Center:

Take I-40 E. approx. 8 miles southeast towards Raleigh.
Take exit 266 for NC-86 (Martin Luther King Jr./Historic Airport Rd.)
Follow 86 South through Chapel Hill for 4 miles.
Turn left at E. Franklin St.
Graham Memorial is 0.2 miles down on your right (directly before the Morehead Planetarium/Visitor's Lot).
If you are in Durham (near the Croasdaile Country Club):

Head west on US-15/501 S towards Chapel Hill.
Stay on 15/501 for 10.5 miles.
Then the road divides, and you will veer right onto E Franklin St.
Stay on Franklin Street for 2.7 miles and you will see the Morehead Planetarium (with visitor's lot) and Graham Memorial on your left.
Parking for the Johnston Center (Days One and Two)
Speculating on the South Conference 2007 will be held on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus in the Johnston Center, located in Graham Memorial. Parking is not covered in your participation. Due to campus construction, parking is limited.
Parking for the events will be available in the Morehead Planetarium Visitors’ Parking Lot. The hourly parking fee is $1.25 per hour with a $30 daily maximum. The lost ticket fee for this facility is $24, and no vehicle can park for more than a 24 hour period without exiting and paying the required fee. There is no charge for visits of less than five minutes.
You may also wish to use public parking, which is available on Rosemary Street, approximately one block away from the Johnston Center.
Parking for the John Hope Franklin Center (Day Three)
The third day of the Speculating on the South Conference 2007 will be held in the John Hope Franklin Center for Interdisciplinary & International Studies at Duke University. As the center's web site suggests, "visitor parking is available at several locations near the Franklin Center." See their map and directions for more parking details.
