As the campus “living room,” the Union gives students places to talk, study or relax. There also are spaces and support for programs and activities presented by student groups, the Carolina Union Activities Board and campus organizations. Meeting and conference rooms, an art gallery, office space for student media and organizations, a computer lab, and auditoriums for movies and dance, musical and comedy performances and Cabaret all contribute to campus life. A 40,000 square-foot expansion and renovation were completed in 2004.
