     For a special Saturday event, Japan Club will hold its first ever Field Day Event with sport-related competitions and fabulous prizes! (Well, they'll be prizes of some sort, whether or not they're fabulous is probably personal opinion.) It will feature both Japanese and American field day classics, so be prepared to face childhood favorites (or fears) and some new challenges as a some-what more coordinated adult! Be sure to bring many of your friends as possible, 'cause what's better than competing than competing with your friends?

     Come learn about Japanese Lunch Boxes (obento) and how to make some of the foods that make them famous. Food demonstrations will be determined by the previous week's Vice Presidents' Committee Meeting. If you plan on attending this event, please e-mail Sally Beth so we can plan how much food to provide.

20 Sep 2007 / 6:00pm / Hanes Art Center 215 - Kagemusha - Curry Rice
     For our first real event of the semester, we'll be showing Akira Kurosawa's Kagemusha (Shadow Warrior) and serving delicious curry rice. (Event is $3 if you plan to have curry rice)
     In Kagemusha, a theif finds himself recruited to impersonate the mortally wounded warlord Takeda Shingen. Set in 1572, this movie focuses on the power struggle between Takeda, Oda, and Tokugawa during the warring states period of Japanese history. The film is in Japanese with English subtitles and runs for approximately 162 minutes.
