North Carolina Japan Center - website
     Established in 1980 by Governor Hunt, the North Carolina Japan Center was established in July 1980 by aims to strengthen the state's academic, economic, scientific, and cultural ties with Japan. The center serves as a resource for both Americans hoping to travel or learn about Japan and Japanese hoping to learn more about the US. Although the main center building is located right next to NC State, the organization now includes seven chapters at other North Carolina universities which are spread more throughout the state.

     The Japanese Government's official representation in the US closest to Chapel Hill can be found in Atlanta or Washington, D.C. Both websites offer information on travelling to Japan as well as assistance for Japanese living in the US.
