Why music?

MUSIC WAS CHOSEN AS THE FRAME for this arts education initiative primarily because North Carolina is a state rich in musical traditions. Music is also a powerful force that touches our lives in many ways.

  • Music is a source of pride and identification among and with different groups.
  • Music enhances education by connecting learning to feeling, and it serves as a mnemonic device.
