The North Carolina Arts Council has an excellent site. Check out Folklife Resources with links to the musicians of the NCAC Touring Artist Directory and touring NC Heritage Award winners. Both lists include several artists who have performed previously at CMC schools. Read the biographies to see which musicians are traditional. And check out NCAC Maps and click on your county for a list of arts resources in your area. The Blue Ridge Heritage Initiative was an impetus for our project. Check out the Blue Ridge Music Trail and the Cherokee Heritage Trail, the latter of which includes a downloadable Cherokee Artist Directory 2001 (in PDF format) that includes several Cherokee musicians. Enjoy the interactive exhibit NC Folk Artists, which explores the music of several North Carolina traditional musicians. The Blues Foundation has links to the diverse groups who celebrate American blues traditions, including organizations like the Triangle Blues Society.
