In the half century since its founding, MEI’s definition of the Middle East has shifted north and west, dropping India and the Horn of Africa. Currently, MEI "defines the Middle East as a region encompassing southwestern Asia and northeastern Africa, spanning from Morocco to Pakistan, including the Caucasus."
