Get to Know Carolina in Your High School

Various high schools throughout North Carolina
Program Times: Times vary by high school but typically range between 10am-2pm
Tarheel Target offers you the opportunity to get to know Carolina in your own high school. Minority Student Recruitment Volunteers visit their hometown high schools during Carolina's fall break and meet with prospective students who have an interest in UNC-Chapel Hill. High school officials work with our office to arrange these visits by a Tarheel Target student volunteer.
Location(s): Various High Schools around the State of North Carolina and a few specifically selected schools out of state. Meeting locations are held in a designated place in the school, typically in the library, cafeteria or conference room.
Information for Student Volunteers:
Attire: All participants will be provided a FREE TarHeel Target, long-sleeve T-shirt with the University logo. Please adorn with comfortable pants such as khaki's. NO blue jeans.
Contact Information: You will be provided a contact name & phone number of the high school representative, along with driving directions and information in case of emergency; Ms. Terri Houston at (919) 843-6086.
Expectations:
- Punctual (Arrive 15-20 minutes prior to start time)
- Presentable
- Informative/Helpful
- Not to answer questions you may not know the answer
- Courteous
- Not Disrespectful of others and other schools
- Not an Admissions Counselor, but a UNC Ambassador
- Remember you are representing self, your family, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs & the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
