Jennifer Montgomery ( 3rd year in Modernextension, president) Jennifer is a junior International Studies Major and Russian Minor from Solon, Iowa. She's been dancing for 15 years in the areas of ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and modern. She was introduced to modern dance her freshman year at UNC when she became a member of Modernextension. She served as the Treasurer of Modernextension as a sophomore and is the President of the group this year. She looks forward to expressing her modern dance education by choreographing her own piece to be performed by members of the company.

Jennifer Solomon ( 3rd yr. MX, secretary) Jennifer is in her third year with Modernextension. She is a fourth year women's studies major and creative writing minor. Last year she choreographed her first modern dance piece _Shirtless Nights_. Currently, Jennifer is working on a new piece and occasionally spends her free time writing her honor's thesis.

Cheryl Coon, 3rd yr MX, Cheryl is a senior psychology and french double major from Seminole, Florida. She is in her third year with Modernextension and is currently working on her second piece. Last year she choreographed a piece for the spring concert to several selections of music by Dave Brubeck, and this year she has chosen a symphony by Michael Doherty with which to create a social commentary piece.

Claire Horn, 4th year MX, Claire is a first year graduate student in Russian and East European Studies. She has danced all her life, completing all majors-level examinations for the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus and attending several workshops during summers, including the International Ballet Competition School, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and the American Dance Festival. She was the recipient of the NC Dance Alliance summer study scholarship for 2000. She has performed most recently with Modernextension, Choreo Collective and Independent Dancemakers.
Julie Allen, Freshman, 1 yr. MX, Julie is from Greensboro, N.C. and has been dancing for 16 years, mostly pointe, ballet, jazz, modern and character. She went to governor's school last summer for dance, she studied modern. She loves doing anything outdoors, travel, shop, and hanging out with friends. Julie wants to go into advertising or business.
Rebecca Ballard, Fr. 1 yr, Rebecca is a freshman from Mebane, NC. She is a Exercise and Sports Studies major. Rebecca has taken dance for fifteen years, and is in her first year in Modernextension. She hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy.
Alicia Barclay, sophomore, 1 yr MX, Alicia began dancing at the age of 10 at the Bronx Dance Theatre, in her native home the Bronx, New York. She remained there until age 14, when she started dancing for the Harlem School of the Arts' dance company, Renaisance II. In 1996, she joined the CityKids Reportiore Company, where she trained with well renowned instructers from the Julliard School and the Tisch School of the Arts. Upon entering college at Stonybrook University in 1998, she joined the Sullivan Dance Troupe in Long Island, NY. This is her first semester as a dancer for Opeyo!Modern and Modernextension at UNC.
Wayla Chambo, 1 yr MX, Wayla is a sophomore music major from Chapel Hill, NC. She has been dancing since she was three, studying ballet, jazz, and modern styles, and is excited to be moving and performing again as part of Modernextension.
Lucinda Cunningham, 1 yr MX, Lucinda is a junior, Journalism and Mass Communications Major. This is my first year in Modernextension, performing in previous years with OPEYO! Modern Dance Troup. My career after university is undecided, but I do want to continue with theater, possibly doing Missions tours or creating a Christian Arts theater.
Amy Fox, Fr. 1 yr MX, Amy is originally from Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada. There she studied jazz, ballet, lyrical, tap and musical theatre for five years with "Andy and Tina's Dance FX". Her performance experience includes both productions and competitions, and she is excited to add her choreographic skills to Modernextension.
Elsa Holzen, Fr. 1 yr MX, Elsa was born and raised in Nashville, T.N. She began dancing at the age of six at a local studio and trained for the past four and a half years at The School of Nashville Ballet. She is currently a freshman and plans to major in business.

Ryan Newton, Junior, 1 yr MX Modernextension is Ryan's first, but much anticipated, encounter with modern dance. Despite a strictly ballet background, she has always had the desire to try other types of dance. This junior International Studies major and Business minor is ready for new movement, expression and creativity.
Pamela Sunstrum, FR, 1 yr MX, Pamela was born in Botswana (southern Africa). She is 20 years old. She had been dancing since she was 10 years old and has been trained in ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, and a bit of African Traditional dance. She is currently an International Studies major on the Pre-Med track, hoping to go to med-school, to specialize in cardiology and one day become a heart surgeon.

Stephanie Watts, 1 yr MX, Stephanie is a freshman from the Charlotte area. She is going to apply to the education school and major in Child Development and Family Studies to become a teacher certified in working with children ages birth-kindergarten. This is her first year with Modernextension and the first time dancing in four years. She is excited about picking up dance again and being able to express herself through movement.
Katie Sullivan, 1 yr MX, Katie is a freshman and a new member of Modernextension. Her love for dance began when she was four and started ballet. Ballet has been her concentration along with a little modern, jazz, and African in high school as well. Right now, she plans to major in Biology and attend vet school.
Heath Reynolds, 1 yr MX Heath, currently a freshman, has been dancing since kindergarten, with a focus in ballet, but she attended Governor's School studying modern. She plans to major in elementary education because she loves working with kids.
