Campus dedicates Eve Marie Carson Garden on Polk PlaceCarolina just dedicated the new Eve Marie Carson Garden. Named for the former student body president, the garden is located on Polk Place and is a place of honor for all students, past and future, who die before they graduate. |

UNC makes Community Service Honor RollCarolina is one of six Presidential Awardees in President Obama's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest recognition for service learning and civic engagement on a campus. Students contributed more than 1 million hours of service working with over 150 community partners. |

Fast foodies cut back when prices riseA new Carolina study that followed participants for 20 years shows both weight and risk for diabetes decreased for people in communities where fast food prices increased. The research, led by Nutrition Professor Barry Popkin, also showed when prices fell, consumption, weight and diabetes risks rose. |
