CHAPEL HILL -- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health will host its second annual schoolwide career fair on Wednesday (April 10) from noon to 4 p.m. at the Dean E. Smith Center.

The event is open to students, alumni and others interested in public health opportunities.

The career fair provides a chance to learn about job openings, explore internship opportunities and network with local and national public health professionals. Thirty employers have committed to this year’s career fair, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Family Health International, GlaxoSmithKline, the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Association of Schools of Public Health, Quintiles and Ipas.

The career fair is sponsored by the School of Public Health Career Development Center, which works with students to develop, maintain and enhance their employment skills.

"In a time when the job market is so discouraging, we want to provide students with an opportunity to learn about available jobs and to meet experienced public health professionals," said Molly Ward, center director. "Even if students aren’t currently looking for a job, we are encouraging them to attend. These students can learn about internship and community service opportunities and will have a chance to create contacts, which will aid their job search later."

For a complete list of participating agencies, companies and organizations, visit http://www.sph.unc.edu/students. For more information, contact Ward at (919) 966-9139 or molly_ward@unc.edu.
