Retired chairman and chief executive officer of Bank of America to speak at Kenan-Flagler Business School
CHAPEL HILL — Hugh L. McColl Jr., retired chairman and chief executive officer of Bank of America and chairman of McColl Brothers Lockwood, will speak at Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill May 5 at 5:30 p.m. as part of the Dean’s Speaker Series.
The lecture series, funded in part by the Archie K. Davis Lectureship Fund, brings key movers and shakers to the business school for talks that are free and open to the community.
Prior to co-founding McColl Partners, a middle-market, mergers and acquisitions advisory firm in fall 2001, McColl served as chairman and chief executive officer of Bank of America. During his tenure, he guided Bank of America to more than 50-fold growth, acquiring more than 50 companies and creating the largest banking institution in the United States. Since his retirement from Bank of America in 2001, he has founded two other businesses in addition to McColl Partners — McColl Garella, an advisory firm focused on female-owned and run businesses and McColl Fine Art, a fine art consulting firm.
McColl, who earned a bachelor of science in business administration degree from Kenan-Flagler in 1957, has been named one of the "top 10 bankers of the century" for his achievements and contributions.
McColl sits on the Kenan-Flagler Board of Visitors and is a former UNC trustee. He is a recipient of the William R. Davie Award, the highest award given by UNC’s trustees for service to the university and society. He was co-chair of the Bicentennial Campaign at UNC-Chapel Hill.
To R.S.V.P. to the public lecture, held in the school’s Maurice J. Koury Auditorium, or for questions, call (919) 843-7787 or e-mail KFBSRSVP@kenan-flagler.unc.edu. Parking will be available in the business deck located at the entrance of the business school.
