UNC trustees resolution supports chancellor, athletics director on ACC expansion issue
For your information, following is the text formally approved this week by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Board of Trustees regarding the university’s handling of the recent Atlantic Coast Conference expansion issue. Discussion of the resolution surfaced during last week’s regular trustee meeting. Board members ratified the resolution by mail ballot on Monday (July 28).
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
AFFIRMING THE UNIVERSITY’S STANCE ON ACC EXPANSION
WHEREAS, the Atlantic Coast Conference recently voted to expand to eleven schools; and
WHEREAS, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and its leadership, Chancellor James Moeser and Athletic Director Dick Baddour, appropriately opposed that action;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill affirms the position taken by Chancellor Moeser and Dick Baddour during the recent expansion deliberations. We applaud their focus on academics and student welfare, and we support their efforts to do what is best for Carolina’s comprehensive athletic program.
