UNC-Chapel Hill open; adverse weather policy in effect for employees
CHAPEL HILL – The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is open today (Dec. 5), and the adverse weather policy is in effect for employees.
Classes for the fall semester concluded earlier this week. Today is a reading day for students in preparation for final examinations.
Campus offices are open. Employees are reminded that the adverse weather policy (http://www.ais.unc.edu/hr/admin/advweath.htm) is in effect. Employees should use personal judgment in determining whether it is safe to report for work..
The university is operating under condition II in its list of adverse weather notices. That means the UNC campus and employment area has experienced large accumulations of snow, ice, sleet or freezing rain.
More information about the university’s operational status is available at www.unc.edu, the main university Web page. Employees can call (919) 685-8100 -- toll free in the Triangle -- for recorded information and announcements about schedule delays or closings. Similar information also is broadcast on the university’s Traveler's Information System, 1610 AM. Details on the condition of campus parking lots and the status of Chapel Hill Transit are available at the Department of Public Safety Web site (http://www.dps.unc.edu/dps/).
