Editors: News Services reminds you of our Web page address with detailed local-angle information listed by county or state about students who graduated or earned Dean’s List honors in fall 2003. See below for details on how to use the Web database.

CHAPEL HILL -- More than 962 students earned bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or professional degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during a December 2003 ceremony featuring remarks by UNC History Professor Michael Hunt.

In addition, more than 5,487 Carolina students were recognized for outstanding academic achievement by their selection for the fall 2003 Dean’s List.

Students are eligible for the Dean’s List if they earn at least a 3.2 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale while taking 15 or more letter-grade credit hours. They are also eligible if they earn a 3.5 grade-point-average while taking at least 12 letter-grade credit hours. Students must have no grades lower than a "C". On a 4.0 scale, "A" equals 4, "B" equals 3 and "C" equals 2.

For Editors -- How to Use the Web Page Site

• Go to http://www.ais.unc.edu/sis/focus/newsservicecan.html 

To search for those students in your circulation area:

• On the left-hand side of the browser choose option 1 (Dean’s List) or option 2 (Degree Recipients). Note: There is not a default set for these two fields.
• For the Semester/Year choose "Fall 2003".
  • For "ALL STUDENTS" choose "Yes" OR
  • For "North Carolina County," select your county OR
  • For "State" select your state.
• Choose an output type – HTML is the default but other options include MS Excel, MS Word or Adobe PDF formats.
• Click "Submit" – the results will be displayed in a browser window.
