Carolina Union to provide live video of Cornel West's speech Jan. 21
CHAPEL HILL -- All 700 tickets for Dr. Cornel West's speech Tuesday (Jan. 21) in UNC's Hill Hall have been distributed, but those without tickets may still be able to see his lecture live.
The Carolina Union will open its film auditorium for a live video of the event, with seating awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The auditorium seats 385. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in both locations. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
Those without tickets who wish to see the speech should go directly to the film auditorium, on the northeastern corner of the Frank Porter Graham Student Union. The building is at the corner of South Road and Raleigh Street. For directions, call 962-2285.
West, a professor of religion and scholar in African-American studies at Princeton University, will deliver the keynote address for Carolina's weeklong celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. The speech is free and open to all, but a previous announcement directed those interested in the talk to pick up free tickets for admission.
For more information, see UNC news release No. 5, dated Jan. 7.
