First-aid device for cardiac arrest is topic of July 24 talk in Durham
CHAPEL HILL -- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student Janet Jackson will discuss the Automatic External Defibrilator, a portable hand-held device for treating cardiac arrest, at 11 a.m. July 24 in Durham.
The free public talk will be sponsored by the Sylvan Seniors, a retirees' group, at Mount Sylvan United Methodist Church, 5731 Roxboro Road. For more information, call Dottie Larsen at 479-1843.
Jackson, a geographic information system specialist for the Orange Water and Sewer Authority, recently won first place in a regional safety speech contest for her talk about the device.
The talk was arranged by Carolina Speakers at UNC, a statewide outreach program. Since 1993, the program has brought more than 90 faculty members to business, civic and community groups. The
speakers share their expertise on more than 150 topics, including 46 on North Carolina and the South.
