English professor to speak on North Carolina pottery

CHAPEL HILL -- Dr. Terry Zug, a retired English professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will speak about "Folk Potters of North Carolina" at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Cary Senior Center in Wake County.

Zug, author of "Turners and Burners: The Folk Potters of North Carolina," will give the free public talk at 120 Maury Odell Place in Cary. For more information or to make reservations, call 919-469-4081.

The talk was arranged by Carolina Speakers at UNC, a statewide outreach program. Since 1993, the program has brought more than 90 faculty members to business, civic and community groups. The

speakers share their expertise on more than 150 topics, including 46 on North Carolina and the South.
