Kitchen leaving vice chancellor for student affairs post

CHAPEL HILL -- Dr. Susan T. Kitchen is leaving her post next month as vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Chancellor James Moeser said Kitchen cited personal reasons in making the decision to leave the vice chancellor position.

Moeser has named Dr. Dean Bresciani, who has served the past five years as associate vice chancellor for student services, as interim vice chancellor for student affairs. Moeser will appoint a committee to conduct a national search to fill the post on a permanent basis.

The Division of Student Affairs includes orientation, housing, the Frank Porter Graham Student Union, community involvement through the Campus Y, Student Health Services, the Counseling Center, the Carolina Leadership Development Program, parent programs, Greek affairs, the Office of the Dean of Students, Disability Services, the International Center and Career Services.

Kitchen came to Carolina in 1996 from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where she served as vice president for student affairs for eight years.
