Moeser visits UNC health research projects in Burlington as part of Carolina
Connects
UNC Chancellor James Moeser
visited two health-related UNC projects in Burlington on Thursday (June 17)
as a part of his new "Carolina Connects" initiative, which seeks to
strengthen the connections between the university and the lives of North Carolinians
and their communities. In the next several months, Moeser will visit all of
the states regions to highlight the many ways in which the university
serves the communities and people of North Carolina.

Unlimited about how BEAUTY is assessing the effectiveness of working in
partnership with beauty salons and licensed cosmetologists to promote health
and share information about preventing cancer. Nearly 40 beauty salons and
more than 1,200 African-American women are participating in the study. Listening
in are Veronica Carlisle (center), project manager for BEAUTY, and Dr. Laura
Linnan, assistant professor of health behavior and health education in UNC's
School of Public Health and lead researcher on the BEAUTY project. |
