Financial Times ranks Kenan-Flagler executive education programs highly

CHAPEL HILL -- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School has been ranked among the world's best at providing education for executives in a survey assessing business schools in the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Argentina and Australia.

In the new Financial Times ranking of international executive education programs, Kenan-Flagler was listed eighth overall. The school also was ranked ninth for open-enrollment programs in a tie with the University of California at Los Angeles, and 10th for custom programs. The overall and custom rankings both jumped up two spots from last year's rankings; the open program ranking remained the same.

The annual Financial Times survey is compiled from the responses of participants or corporate purchasers and surveys of business schools. Open programs are courses open to all executives; custom programs are tailor-made for companies that wish to put executives through specific training or development designed for their companies.

Kenan-Flagler was also ranked in the top 10 for the following criteria:

· Star faculty, new skills and learning, course design and value for money in custom programs.

· Star faculty and course design in open-enrollment programs.

· Kenan-Flagler was one of only two schools to earn the top rating of 100 in custom programs by companies asked their likelihood of using the same business school again. This is the third straight year that Kenan-Flagler has earned this top score.

The Financial Times ranking reflects the extraordinary learning experiences that business people have at Kenan-Flagler, said Dr. Robert S. Sullivan, school dean. While serving North Carolina is central to our mission, we compete with the best business schools around the globe and, as demonstrated by this ranking, that marketplace values Kenan-Flagler as among the best of the world's very best.

This most recent ranking is representative of the caliber and momentum of all of Kenan-Flagler's programs, Sullivan said. "Clearly our executive participants, graduates, the corporate community and our peer institutions recognize the excellence and value of our programs," he said.

The survey was published in the U.K, and European editions on Monday (May 27), and in the U.S. and Asian editions of the London-based newspaper on Tuesday (May 28). Additional information is at http://news.ft.com/surveys/businessed.
