Health sciences librarian to speak on health information on the Internet
CHAPEL HILL -- Carol Jenkins, director of the Health Sciences Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will speak about health information on the Internet at 7 p.m. June 24 in Roxboro.
The public is invited to her free speech, "Wired for Health," at the Person County Public Library, 319 South Main St. For more information, call 336-597-7881.
Jenkins will discuss ways that the Internet is becoming the public’s most comprehensive and accessible source of health information. She will address issues related to the accuracy and reliability of that information and ways people can become more skilled health care consumers.
The talk was arranged by Carolina Speakers at UNC, a statewide outreach program. Since 1993, the program has brought more than 90 faculty members to business, civic and community groups. The speakers share their expertise on more than 150 topics, including 46 on North Carolina and the South.
