Chancellor praises Rut Tuft's contributions to the university
The Fair Labor Association today (May 18) posted an obituary for Rut Tufts, a former University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill employee and senior administrator from Durham who died earlier this week. The FLA's obituary is at http://www.fairlabor.org/all/about/RutObit.pdf. UNC Chancellor James Moeser issued the following statement praising Tuft's contributions to the university:
"In his 32 years as a university employee, Rut Tufts contributed at the highest levels of excellence. He made many lasting contributions behind the scenes that will continue to benefit students, staff and faculty for many years to come. He helped make our licensing and labor code among the nation's very best. As recently as last fall he had come back to Chapel Hill in his role with FLA to help the advisory committee he had worked so hard to help create understand the latest developments. Rut's dedication, leadership and commitment to integrity earned him the deep respect of his colleagues here on campus. We are saddened by his loss."
