Georgia State art professor to explore morality themes in three artists' work

CHAPEL HILL -- Jane Blocker, assistant professor of art history at Georgia State University, will present a Space Image Performance Nov. 13 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Blocker will speak at 7 p.m. in 104 Howell Hall. The program is free and open to the public. Blocker's speech, Out of Breath, will consider themes of morality as explored in Ross McElwee's documentary home movie, Time Indefinite; a video installation by Gary Hill; and works by Ana Mendieta. Blocker will focus on relationships between speaking and writing, performance and history.
Blocker teaches contemporary art, critical theory and performance. Her book Where is Ana Mendieta? Identity, Performativity, and Exile is forthcoming from Duke University Press.
The University Program in Cultural Studies and the art department will sponsor the presentation. For more information, call 962-4955.
