Chancellor Moeser issues statement on ACC vote to add Boston College
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Chancellor James Moeser today (Oct. 12) issued the following statement regarding a vote of Atlantic Coast Conference presidents and chancellors:
“I joined my ACC colleagues today in supporting an invitation to Boston College to join the conference. I voted for what I believe is in the best interest of Carolina’s comprehensive athletic program. Dick Baddour and I consulted on Friday with our Board of Trustees chair and faculty leaders, and I believe they support this direction.
We had opposed expansion. But once we became a conference of 11, the arguments for adding a 12th member became persuasive. The ACC is now well positioned for the future.
Boston College is an excellent institution, and we will welcome them to the ACC.”
