Greater Mecklenburg residents invited to learn how area compares in civic knowledge
CHAPEL HILL -- Join Greater Mecklenburg residents, grassroots organizations and local leaders for an important dialogue on civic education and engagement on Oct. 16 for a community forum. Participants will discuss the recently released North Carolina Civic Index and develop local strategies to improve civic education and participation in the Greater Mecklenburg region. Students from area junior high and high schools are encouraged to share their views about the importance of youth civic engagement.
The forum will take place at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center at 5:00–8:30 p.m. Directions are available online at http://www.civics.unc.edu/civicindex/charlotte.htm. The forum is free and open to the public, but requires reservations before Oct. 8.
